JULY 2011: WIN A LYME IN THE LOTTO

If you would like an opportunity to win the Lotto then visit the Genus ABS stand at the Causeway Classic and enter the Genus Lotto for a chance to win 20 units of Woodmarsh Lotto semen worth 520. The successful winner will be announced at the end of the sale.

Commenting on this opportunity and the fact that the company is a sponsor of the Causeway Classic, Ervin McKinstry, General Manger Genus ABS and ABS Ireland said “. It is company policy to build profitable relationships with the farming industry. We are part of the world wide company, ABS Global, a world leader in bovine genetics. The company offers a comprehensive package of product and technical services including semen from world class beef and dairy sires; Genomate, a mating service which can go back for seven generations to avoid in breeding and RMS (Reproductive Management Service) which has enabled dairy farmers to increase fertility rate and thus profit margins. Genus ABS also sells a selection of products which have contributed to animal welfare and on- farm efficiency. These include a large range of Valiant Teat dips, Powerstart silage and Acti-maize inoculants and Bootmaker footbath products.

He added “We want to help our customers become more efficient and profitable and we are pleased to support them by sponsorship of  Causeway Classic 3. We have been associated with this event from its inauguration and have been impressed with the quality and performance of cattle being exhibited and the organisation of the event.”

There will be keen demand from leading breeders and dairy farmers to win this prize when one considers Lotto’s pedigree and successes. His sire is the famous Picston Shottle while his dam, Woodmarsh Jolt Lyme 4 EX92  produced 100 tonnes in seven lactations and his grand dam Cleevale Prelude Lyme 2, EX95 produced 130 tonnes in her lifetime.

Picston Shottle needs no introduction as he is the sire that really put the UK on the map for Holstein genetics. He took top  position for not only type but also for Profitable Lifetime Index proving that his daughters not only look good  but they also pay the bills. Shottle has topped the UK foot and leg rankings a staggering 15 times, has been consistently at the top of the UK type rankings, is in the top 10 for Index ranking in five countries, including being number one in the USA, Canada and Italy.  With a classification of EX96 points, he is the joint highest classified bull in the UK

Regarding Lotto’s family background on the maternal side, the Lymes are one of the most up and coming cow families. The grand dam in addition to her 130 tonne yield has bred 37 classified  descendants which averaged a staggering 87 points.  Prelude Lyme bred four multi-E daughters all with at least 60 tonnes of milk under their belt, one of which is Woodmarsh Rudolph Lyme 5 EX92 2E dam of the globally high ranking Woodmarsh Topshot. Another daughter is the incredible Jolt Lyme 4, Lotto’s dam, who raked up 100 tonnes of milk in seven lactations.
