November 2011: Holstein support for NI Children’s Hospice

The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice has received a cheque for 735 from Holstein NI. The money was raised at the club’s Causeway Classic III elite sale, held at Moira in August.

Presenting the charity cheque Holstein NI chairman Alan Cleland said:”We are delighted to offer our support to the Horizon West Appeal. The NI Children’s Hospice provides care for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, and offers much-needed respite and support for their families. The Horizon West facility near Enniskillen aims to strengthen the existing services provided by the NI Children’s Hospice in Newtownabbey.

“The purpose-built facility will cater for patients in the west of the Province. Our membership is based throughout Northern Ireland, and as members of the farming community we appreciate the need for a facility such as this in rural areas.

“It gives me great pleasure as chairman of Holstein NI to present this cheque to the Horizon West Appeal. Thanks to Alex Berry of Simply Irresistible Catering who provided the refreshments at the Causeway Classic III, and donated part of the proceeds to our charity fund. We also received monetary donations from several of the trade stands who attended the event.”

Cliona Dudgeon, Fermanagh and Tyrone community fundraiser, NI Children’s Hospice, thanked Holstein NI for its support. “We are very thankful to Holstein NI and its members for this generous cheque. We rely heavily on voluntary donations and every penny received makes us one-step closer to our goal.

“We are currently focused on securing enough money to sustain the day-to-day running costs of the centre. We are committed to providing accessible, high quality clinical care and family support, and we aim to open the doors of the Horizon West facility in the spring of 2012.”
