November 2011: World’s highest ranked PTAT milking female bred at Glasson
Holstein NI members Philip and Simon Haffey from Portadown, County Armagh, have bred the world’s current number one PTAT milking female, Glasson Goldwyn JD Glora ET VG88 2yr.
She tops the world genomic rankings with a PTAT +4.34.
Born in February 2009 and sired by Braedale Goldwyn - Premier Sire World Dairy Expo for four consecutive years, her dam Joylan Durham Glora EX93 2E (EX97 dairy strength) has it all - milk, solids and type. In her third 305-day lactation she produced in excess of 14,200kgs at 4.23%BF and 3.43%P; with protein percentages over 3.5% in her second and fifth lactations.
Joylan Durham Glora EX93 2E was the interbreed champion at the Dairy Event in 2004, and her transmitting ability has resulted in sons in AI, namely Joylan Eurostar at Cogent and Smiddiehill Granite at Genus ABS.
Her grand dam is the six star brood cow, Joylan Glora EX92, who produced 11,590kgs at 4.21%BF and 3.68%P in her first 305-day lactation. She has bred five UK daughters (average 87 points) and is a full sister to Germany’s high type sire, Bonatus - the most heavily used bull in Germany for three consecutive years.
Following on through the pedigree is 3rd dam Glora VG89 (dam of Bonatus); 4d: Hayleys Star Gloriette EX92; 5th dam: Donovan Sheik Gloriette EX94 10*; 6th dam: Donovan Western Glory VG87.
Glasson Goldwyn JD Glora VG88 is the dam of Glasson Aftershock G Glora (PTAT+4.08 GTPI+2118) - selling at the Black and White Sale in Carlisle on Saturday, December 3, 2011. This June 2011 born calf has attracted numerous contracts and AI interest, and her complete pedigree makes Glora a very exciting prospect.
